#InstagramDown: Social media app hit by major outage, suspends masses of accounts
Instagram has been hit by a major outage that has suspended masses of users from their own pages.
The social media app’s users took to Twitter to report the problem, causing #InstagramDown and “My IG” to trend on the site with over 78,000 tweets and 25,000 tweets, respectively, as of this writing.
According to the screenshots shared online, the notification, which started popping up at 1:00 p.m. GMT (9:00 p.m., Philippine time) said: “We suspended your account on 31 October 2022.” It also told that the suspended IG users are given 30 days to “disagree with this decision.”
In a tweet reposted by the verified account of Instagram, its PR team said they are now “looking into it” and that they “apologize for the inconvenience.”
We're aware that some of you are having issues accessing your Instagram account. We're looking into it and apologize for the inconvenience. #instagramdown
