JoJo Siwa opens up about breakup with Kylie Prew: ‘Right person, wrong time’

Published Nov 03, 2021 4:01 pm

With rumors about their split circulating mid-October, JoJo Siwa confirmed that she has broken up with Kylie Prew after dating her for almost a year.

"I have yet to talk about this officially, publicly, but we broke up," Siwa told Paris Hilton on This is Paris podcast on Nov. 2.

The 18-year-old Dancing With the Stars contestant added that she and Prew are still friends.

"But she is literally still my best friend. I talked to her yesterday, she got a new puppy. She's awesome. She's having the time of her life, I'm having the time of her life," the Dance Moms alum said. "I'm really lucky that I didn't lose her completely because, you know, even though relationships end, friendships don't have to end," she continued.

Siwa and Prew started dating in January after the Dance Moms star came out as part of the LGBTQ+ community.

The singer/dancer explained that what happened was a case of "right person, wrong time" with her "hectic schedule" and age contributing to the breakup. "Nothing bad happened. It just is the definition of a cheesy saying of 'Right person, wrong time,' and I hate cheesy sayings, but they're true."

"We're both so young—she's 17, I'm 18, and we are literally best friends and I would take a bullet for her, and I know she would do the same for me. We just—literally, right person, wrong time."

In October, Siwa posted about being "overwhelmed and overloaded" with "not only work but also personal life."

As for how she's doing now, Siwa said, "Everything's good, I'm good."
