Netflix's live-action 'Cowboy Bebop' series wraps production
After numerous setbacks, Netflix's live-action adaptation of the cult anime series Cowboy Bebop has officially wrapped production.
Daniella Pineda, who will portray Faye Valentine in the upcoming TV series, confirmed in an Instagram post that Cowboy Bebop has finished filming its first season.
"I’m coming back on the air to say.....Season 1 of COWBOY BEBOP is finally, finished,” Pineda wrote. “Gonna dip again but will return after these messages."
Filming on Cowboy Bebop first started in 2019 but was later put on hold after lead actor John Cho suffered a leg injury during a scene in New Zealand. A couple of months later, the series saw another setback due to the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.
The live-action adaptation follows the jazz-inspired, genre-bending story of a rag-tag crew of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals. They’ll even save the world… for the right price.
The 10-episode first season will star Cho as Spike Spiegel, Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black, Alex Hassell as Vicious, and Elena Satine as Julia.
They will be joined by Geoff Stults as Jet's ex-partner Chalmers, Tamara Tunie as Martian club owner Ana, Mason Alexander Park as Gren, Rachel House as Mao, as well as Ann Truong and Hoa Xuande as Vicious' twin henchmen Shin and Lin.
A release date for the series has yet to be announced.
