'Friends' to have a game show in honor of its 30th anniversary
Attention Friends fans! There's a new game show on the hit 90s sitcom is coming to Max in honor of its 30th anniversary.
Titled Fast Friends, the four-part Friends-inspired competition game show will be filmed inside the New York City flagship Friends Experience.
The game show will bring fans to compete in a two-story, 17,00-square-foot attraction featuring 18 nostalgia-filled rooms, activations, and recreated sets.
"From racing through Rachel and Monica's apartment to darting across Joey and Chandler's bachelor pad and grabbing a coffee at Central Perk, fans will relive their favorite moments while being put to the test with trivia, puzzles and games that will keep even the most die-hard Friends fans on their toes," a press release said, as per Variety.
Fast Friends will start filming next month, and each team is expected to compete on iconic sets through trivia, puzzles, and games. The winner will be hailed as "Ultimate Friends Fans."
The game show has no set release date yet.
In addition to this offering, Max will also provide enhanced content for the sitcom, including bonus featurettes such as Friends From The Start, When Friends Become Family and The Legacy of Friends.
These featurettes will show how the team discusses the development and casting of the sitcom, the development of some of the most iconic episodes, and reflecting on the "pop culture influence and lasting legacy of the series."
Meanwhile, if you want to own some valuable merchandise from the show, Warner Bros. Television and Julien's Auctions will be holding an auction where fans can get their hands on one-of-a-kind memorabilia that references some iconic scenes from the hit show.
This includes studio-made reproduction of props, costumes, and other decorations. It also features items used by the show's famous guest stars, including Susan Sarandon, Bruce Willis, Dakota Fanning, Winona Ryder, and many others.
The items are validated by an original Certificate of Authenticity issued by Warner Bros. Discovery Global Archives and Preservation Services.
Friends first aired on Sept. 22, 1994, lasting for 10 seasons until 2004 on NBC. It starred Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, and the late Matthew Perry.
In 2021, the stars of the popular 90s sitcom reunited in Friends: The Reunion. In this special, the cast sat with host James Corden on their iconic couch to reminisce about their experience with the pop culture phenomenon. They also revisited sets from the original show and chatted with celebrity guests, including Tom Selleck, the late James Michael Tyler, Reese Witherspoon, and more.
