WATCH: Ryan Reynolds shares 'Deadpool & Wolverine' deleted scene teasing return of fan-favorite character
Warning: This article contains spoilers for Deadpool & Wolverine.
Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds shared a Deadpool & Wolverine deleted scene showing the fate of Gambit.
In the movie, the titular characters portrayed by Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are sent to a "void" at the end of time where several Marvel characters are.
One of them is Gambit, a mutant who can manipulate pure kinetic energy and is known for card-throwing. He's portrayed by Channing Tatum, who became a scene-stealer in the role.
Gambit and other heroes fought the forces of Cassandra Nova (Emma Corin) in the film. When the end credits rolled, it was unclear what happened to the heroes.
The deleted scene showed Gambit, with his back turned, walking past Nova's dead men on the ground.
The camera moves up as he turns around. Orange light can then be seen reflecting on his eyes as he smiles. The orange light indicates that a portal has opened in front of Gambit, implying he's about to escape the void.
"*whispers* Marvel Sparkle Circle," Reynolds said, referring to his playful name for the portals in the movie.
He noted that a version of the sequence is in the film, playing on one of the monitors in deep background of the Time Variance Authority.
Tatum dropped an eyes emoji in the comments section of Reynold's post.
"[H]eeeheee!" Tatum said, adding a spade emoji referencing his character's love of cards.
"Laissez les bon temps rouler! Let the times roll Cher!" he added. Gambit is known to speak Cajun English and Louisiana French in the comics.
For years, there have been reports that Tatum will portray Gambit in a standalone movie but this never materialized.
Taking off from the 2016 and 2018 Deadpool movies, Deadpool & Wolverine follows the Time Variance Authority, the agency monitoring time introduced in the miniseries Loki, pulling Deadpool from his quiet life and setting him on a mission alongside Wolverine.
The latest installment marks the return of Jackman after 2017's Logan, the final entry in the Wolverine movies.
Deadpool 3 also stars Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, and Stefan Kapičić.
Deadpool & Wolverine is the series’ first entry in the MCU. Rival studio 20th Century Fox was the original producer and distributor of the Deadpool and X-Men movies before Disney, Marvel’s parent company, purchased 20th Century Fox and the rights to the characters. It hit Philippine theaters last month.
