American actor Chris Evans has extended his Guinness World Record title for the most feature film appearances as a Marvel superhero.

The actor's new achievement comes following his surprise cameo in the studio's newest entry, Deadpool & Wolverine. He reprised his role as Johnny Storm or The Human Torch, whom he last played in 2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. It was in 2011, or four years later, when Evans would portray his most iconic role, Captain America.

With his eight credited appearances as Captain America plus three as The Human Torch, Evans has an overall record of 11 appearances as a Marvel superhero to date.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Evans said Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds, who recently had two Guinness World Records alongside his Wolverine co-star Hugh Jackman, invited him to return as The Human Torch.

“He just shot me a text saying, 'Listen, might be a long shot, but would you have any interest in reprising something from 20 years ago?' I said, 'Oh my God! Of course,'" Evans said.

He noted that he only had to fly in for a couple of days of filming, calling the job “pretty easy."

Evans also had fond memories of working on the original Fantastic Four movies when he was 23, saying they brought him to "the next level" of his career.

Taking off from the 2016 and 2018 Deadpool movies, Deadpool & Wolverine follows the Time Variance Authority, the agency monitoring time introduced in the miniseries Loki, pulling Deadpool from his quiet life and setting him on a mission alongside Wolverine.

The movie marks the return of Jackman after 2017's Logan, the final installment in the Wolverine movies.

Deadpool 3 also stars Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, and Stefan Kapičić.

Deadpool & Wolverine is the series’ first entry in the MCU. Rival studio 20th Century Fox was the original producer and distributor of the Deadpool and X-Men movies before Disney, Marvel’s parent company, purchased 20th Century Fox and the rights to the characters.

The Fantastic Four franchise is getting a reboot as an official MCU entry, beginning with Fantastic Four: First Steps, which is slated for July 2025. It stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
