Canadian singer Shawn Mendes is starring in his first feature film debut as a singing crocodile.

Sony Pictures has debuted the official trailer for their upcoming musical comedy film, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, which is a live-action adaptation of the children's book of the same name by Bernard Waber.

The two-minute trailer shows Mendes' upbeat singing voice in a way that's nothing like you've seen before as he plays a crocodile with a knack for bursting into feel-good songs.

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile follows the Primm family as they move to the busy streets of New York City. As their young son Josh struggles to adapt to his new school and make new friends, everything changes when he befriends Lyle, a crocodile who loves to spend his time singing melodic tunes.

However, when the Primm's evil neighbor Mr. Grumps perceives Lyle as a nuisance and threatens his existence, the family must work together to show the world that there’s nothing wrong with a big singing crocodile with an even bigger personality.

Directed by Will Speck and Josh Gordon, the film will feature songs crafted by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the songwriting duo behind The Greatest Showman and La La Land.

Joinging Mendes in the film are Javier Bardem, Constance Wu, Winslow Fegley, Scoot McNairy, and Brett Gelman.

Lyle is set to sing his catchy songs on Oct. 7.
