Beginner tips, maps and more: What you need to know about 'Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile'

Published Mar 22, 2024 2:22 pm

Looking for a new mobile game to play with your friends? Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is now out for iOS and Android users to play.

ICYDK, Warzone Mobile brings players into the world of the original Call of Duty: Warzone, a battle royale game for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows released in 2020.

The new game is also a free-to-play first-person shooter battle royale where you can compete with up to 120 other players or squad up with your friends.

Ready to dive into the Warzone? Here's what you need to know about the game.

The Maps

Two classic maps are available on Warzone Mobile: Verdansk and Rebirth Island. Verdansk features urban areas, close quarters, and wide-open battlefields with 40 points of interest or landmark locations. These POIs are represented by arrow pins on your map.

Meanwhile, Rebirth Island is a smaller map where you'll be thrust into high-action combat. What you can expect from this map are quick but intense matches.

Gameplay

As mentioned above, this battle royale will see 120 live players in a massive gunfight. Aside from running across the map on foot, players will be able to ride land-based vehicles and aircraft so they can reach landmarks quickly or protect themselves from oncoming enemies.

In addition to the loot and weapons you collect while in the warzone, you'll also be able to collect in-match cash to purchase equipment, field upgrades, killstreaks, or revive tokens. Just look for the Buy Stations on the map to use up your cash.

Warzone Mobile also allows squads of players to take on Contracts, an optional mini-missions in-game to get rewards, XP, rare loot, and more.

When players die on the map, they have a second chance to get back into the game through the Gulag, where you'll go on a one-on-one gunfight to be able to redeploy in the match.

Cross-progression

Also play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Warzone on the PC or console? Players will be able to take their game on the go with Warzone Mobile as the game supports cross-progression. This means that achievements, weapons, friends list, and chat channels that one has on the mobile game will be accessible through the console and PC games.

Customizable UI

To allow players to get the same battle royale feel they would get from their PC or console, Warzone Mobile allows for deep mobile control customizations. There are three ways to play the game: through touchscreen controls, a Backbone One controller, or a Bluetooth controller.

With touch controls, you can customize the different buttons you'll see on the screen and tweak their size, too. You can also set up automations for actions like Weapon Auto Pick Up, Turn to Damage Assist, climbing stairs and crouching, and auto-assist while turning corners.

Tips

When you open Warzone Mobile, you'll be able to pick through a beginner or advanced user tutorial that teaches you the basics of movement in the game. Here are some other helpful tips for beginners (so you won't die as soon as you jump off your parachute).

  • Check out the map before you drop. Look at where all the other players are landing and find a place where there aren't as many enemies so you can get loot. Make sure you don't drop too late because other players may be more equipped than you by then.
  • Master the movements. Know how to run, crouch, slide, and position your crosshairs. Familiarize yourself with the weapons and equipment, too, so you'll find the guns that work best for you.
  • Don't challenge players head-on. While it's fun to get aggressive and just shoot other players in a game like Warzone Mobile, you may get killed easily with this approach. Just take your time. Equip yourself with all the armor, ammo, and more that you'll need before going face-to-face with someone, especially if you're just learning the ropes.

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is now available and free to download through the App Store and Google Play.
