Missing 'Phineas and Ferb'? Hit cartoon will be back with 40 new episodes
"Stick with us 'cause Phineas and Ferb are gonna do it all" indeed, as the hit animated series will have new episodes.
According to a Variety report, series creator Dan Povenmire and Disney Branded Television had a deal of 40 new episodes, which will be split up into two seasons. Disney Branded TV produces shows across Disney Channel, Disney+, Disney Junior, and Disney XD.
The date for the new episodes of Phineas and Ferb is yet to be announced.
"It has been the greatest pleasure of my career to see how an entire generation of kids and parents have embraced the characters and the humor of Phineas and Ferb,” Povenmire is quoted as saying. He also said he's eagerly looking forward to diving back into the show for a whole new generation.
“Dan is renowned for his ability to create universally beloved stories and characters with both heart and humor,” Disney Branded Television President Ayo Davis is quoted as saying. “We couldn’t be happier to continue our collaboration with him and bring back the iconic Phineas and Ferb in a big way.”
Phineas and Ferb depicts the titular stepbrothers who conquer boredom and make every day of summer vacation count mostly through scientific inventions and discoveries—much to the dismay of their sister Candace.
It also has a subplot about their pet platypus named Perry, who's apparently a secret agent, and nemesis "evil" scientist Heinz Doofenschmirtz.
The series premiered in 2008 on Disney Channel and ran until 2012, before new episodes aired on Disney XD.
It also has movies, Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension in 2011 and Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe in 2020.
