Ryu Seung Ryong, Yang Se-jong to star in Disney+'s adaptation of webtoon 'Low Life'
Disney+ is adapting South Korean webtoon Low Life into a series to be released in 2025.
The upcoming show's cast will include Ryu Seung Ryong of Moving and Chicken Nugget fame and Yang Se-jong who starred in Doona and Temperature of Love.
Low Life follows the story of a fisherman in 1970s Korea who discovers treasure that's been lost for generations at the bottom of the ocean. Word spreads about the riches and it reaches Oh Heedong and his uncle Oh Gwanseok who takes on the task of traveling to ocean depths to reach the fortune before anyone else.
The original webtoon was penned by Yoon Tae-ho, a manhwa artist best known for writing Moss, Misaeng, and The Insiders. Disney+'s adaptation will be written by Kang Yoon-sung, who also directed Big Bet.
Other cast members for the upcoming series include Lim So-jung, Kim Eui-sung, Kim Sung-oh, Hong Ki-joon, Jang Kwang, Kim Jong-so, Woo Hyun, Lee Dong-hwi, Jung Yun-ho, Lim Hyung-jun, Lee Sang-jin, and Kim Min.
Disney+ has yet to reveal details like the number of episodes the series is getting and its specific release date but it's expected to hit the streaming platform in 2025.
Earlier in February, the streaming giant announced its slate of Korean dramas coming to Disney+ in 2024, which includes fantasy movie Lightstop, period drama Uncle Samsik, Unmasked, The Tyrant, Gangnam B-Side, and Blood Free.
