Xbox head Phil Spencer praises DualSense, says Xbox might update Series controller model

Xbox head Phil Spencer appeared recently in an episode of the Kinda Funny Gamescast and shared his thoughts and opinions about Sony’s DualSense controller and their plans of updating their controller model.

"There’s probably some work that we’ll do on the controller. I think Sony’s done a nice job with their controller and we kind of look at some of that and there are things that we should go do," said Spencer.

Spencer however said that there are no plans yet for Microsoft to release additional peripherals for their consoles aside from updating their controllers, as they are still uninterested in AR and VR.

"We're watching what happens on PC. As it relates to VR specifically, the best experience I have seen is [Oculus] Quest 2. And I just think [the] ease of use, [being] untethered in its capability just doesn’t, to me, require it being connected to an Xbox in any way," he said.

The PS5 controller is unique for its more powerful and precise haptic motors and adaptive triggers which make it an interesting piece of hardware for Sony’s PlayStation.

Microsoft on the other hand rehashed their old Xbox One design with small additional upgrades like a USB-C port for faster charging, a new D-pad, and dynamic latency input.

MIcrosoft, however, has since had an advantage on Sony’s controllers as all of their recent models have been fully compatible with PC, making it a good choice for PC gamers who prefer gamepads over the mouse and keyboard.
