Ready to get your mind blown once again in the computer-generated world of the Matrix? Good news: The hit sci-fi film is set to have its fifth installment.

According to a report by Deadline, a new The Matrix film is confirmed to be in the works at Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.

It is set to be written and directed by Drew Goddard, who also worked on the sci-fi flick The Martian and 2011 horror The Cabin in the Woods.

More details, including its production date, release date, and plot have yet to be announced, but Jesse Ehrman, president of production and development of Warner Bros. Pictures teased that it would continue its story to the fantasy world with a fresh perspective while still anchoring on the 1999 film.

The studio hasn't also confirmed whether Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, who starred in the previous films as Neo and Trinity, as well as OG cast members Jada Pinkett Smith, Laurence Fishburne, and Hugo Weaving will be reprising their roles in the upcoming film.

The Matrix follows the story of Neo fighting the exploitative and repressive forces in the computer-generated world of the Matrix in a mission to save mankind. The 1999 film spawned sequels, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions which were both released in 2003. 18 years later, the film released its fourth installment The Matrix Resurrections in 2021.
