Lil Nas X has announced the release of his debut album Montero on Wednesday, with a trailer inspired by the opening sequence of Marvel Studios.

In a comic book style, the video shows the significant moments in the artist’s career with clips featuring his previous tracks Old Town Road, Holiday, and 2021 singles before the text “Montero: The Album” displays in the Marvel-style font and layout.

The rapper-singer has not shared the release date but last March, he tweeted that the album will be released “this summer.”

The artist has been the talk of the town since he kissed a dancer of the same sex during the ending scene of his Montero (Call Me By Your Name) performance at the 2021 BET Awards last Monday.

“It took me a lot of time to mentally prepare for this performance. while on stage I was trembling knowing that I was performing something like that in front of my straight peers. Even during the performance, I was having a hard time calming my nerves. Thank you guys for the love,” he said.

The music video for Lil Nas X’s (born Montero Lamar Hill) latest single Sun Goes Down is about how he tries to comfort his younger self “who’s struggling inside, hating himself, and doesn’t want to live anymore,” he tweeted.

For his upcoming album, he told Teen Vogue last May, “With this album, I've really stepped into my vulnerability, or like these things that I was insecure about people knowing about, or finding out about me.”
