5 strong episodes to get you hooked on ‘Girl From Nowhere’

We all gotta start from somewhere with The Girl from Nowhere.

Netflix’s Girl From Nowhere season 2 is here! The Thai anthology series following a mysterious girl named Nanno now has a total of 21 shock-inducing episodes.

The show’s flow is similar to Black Mirror - but instead of technology making life a living hell, it’s in the form of a clever and cunning teenage girl out to expose everybody’s dirty laundry.

The series’ hour-long solo stories make for an addicting binge-watching choice. If you’re still not riding the Nanno train, here are five solid episodes to get you started.

Apologies  - Season 1, Episode 2

The series’ first episode has a slow start, but it’s really in the second episode when we get a feel of just how diabolical (and immortal) Nanno can be.

The episode follows a group of friends who try to physically and mentally destroy Nanno, but they don’t know the kind of power she holds.

Pregnant - Season 2, Episode 1

This NSFW episode introduces a new and improved Nanno for the show’s second season, as she manipulates a boy who’s left a little more than a broken heart to almost every girl in their school.

We won’t go into many spoilers here, but it’s a wild ride that ensures the show only gets better with time.

Minnie And The Four Bodies - Season 2, Episode 3

Every Girl From Nowhere holds gruesome themes, but it becomes especially spine-tingling when you find out that this episode is based on real-life events.

Minnie And The Four Bodies follows a rich girl named Minnie who accidentally runs over and kills four schoolmates. Because of her family's powerful connections, however, she gets away scot-free and has to live with the guilt for the rest of her life. Meanwhile, the true story actually had 16-year old girl Orachorn "Praewa" Thephasadin Na Ayudhya kill 9 people. Instead of jail time, she was sentenced to 138 hours of community service.

Wonderwall - Season 1, Episode 6 & 7

The series’ first connecting episodes turn the "be careful what you wish for’" mantra on its head as Nanno’s schoolmates discover a bathroom wall that fulfills every wish that someone writes on.

Though the age-old monkey’s paw concept is simple enough, it becomes a particularly intriguing tale once overlapping wishes turn into a life or death situation for the young students.

Liberation - Season 2, Episode 6

Perhaps the most visually pleasing episode in the mix, Liberation is a purely black and white episode that takes on what it means to be under a regime that breaks the very rules it imposes.

Though Nanno’s instance is in the education setting, it paints a clear picture of what it means to push back against oppressive beliefs. Plot-wise, the episode also drives forward Nanno’s season 2 nemesis: Yuri.
