HK has a diverse art world, with the classic and the contemporary living side-by-side to keep the entire city bustling.

This Arts Month, the Hong Kong Tourism Board is putting the spotlight on its vibrant works of art through must-see exhibitions, world-class art fairs, and interactive experiences that every art lover would love.

If you’re spending a week in HK soon and want to dive into the heart of its energetic art scene, let this curated bucket list of events and activities guide you through your trip.

Live: Hong Kong Art Exhibition
March 20-May 5

Live: Hong Kong Art Exhibition will feature 19 contemporary artists.

Nineteen artists in HK’s contemporary art world will be at Live: Hong Kong Art Exhibition to showcase their recent masterpieces across various media—from painting and ink art, to ceramics and sculpture, to video, installation, and multimedia.

Participating artists include Chu Hing-wah, Angela Yuen, Inkgo Lam, Ross Yau, Hung Keung, Leung Mee-ping, Joseph Chan, Chan Wai-lap, Chan Kwan-lok, Jess Leung, Raymond Fung, Wong Hau-kwei, anothermountainman (Wong Ping-pui, Stanley), Wong Chung-yu, Wong Chun-hei, Wong Lai-ching, Fiona, Hung Hoi, Hung Fai, and Law Yuk-mui.

According to the Hong Kong Museum of Art, this will be the first time that a lot of artists will create on-site and turn the gallery into an open studio, making the experience of attendees one for the books.

Don’t skip the miniature studios at The Wing on the ground floor, where the displays will bare the artists’ creative inspiration behind their works and take you to a place where their ideas were still in their early stages.

The video series Studio and Beyond is also worth checking out as it’s guided by the artists themselves, using their own studios “as a lens to reflect the unique artistic ecology of Hong Kong.”

Live: Hong Kong Art Exhibition will take place at the Hong Kong Museum of Art. Admission is free.
