Sci-fi lovers better get ready for more binge-watching sessions as Netflix has released the official teaser trailer for Rebel Moon, an epic space opera film from Justice League director Zack Snyder.

The three-minute trailer is expected to bring satisfaction to every sci-fi fan as it teases outlandish environments, a helpless village being destroyed by laser-firing spaceships, giant spider creatures, and a flying pegasus-like animal—all of which are magnified by an intense score playing in the background.

The film puts audiences in the shoes of Kora, a mysterious stranger living in a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy that is suddenly thrown into chaos when it is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force.

Kora then becomes their best hope for survival, and she is now tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the so-called Mother World.

She then assembles a small band of warriors ranging from outsiders, insurgents, peasants, and orphans of war from different worlds to partake in a battle over the fate of a galaxy.

Rebel Moon is divided into two films: A Child of Fire and Scargiver. It stars Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Charlie Hunnam, and Anthony Hopkins.

Snyder, who is known for helming films such as 300, Man of Steel, and Army of the Dead, first conceptualized the project as a pitch for a story in the Star Wars universe. Following Disney’s 2012 acquisition of Lucasfilm, he then redeveloped the script into an original concept.

The first part will be released on Netflix on Dec. 22 this year while the second part will drop on April 19, 2024.
