LIST: 8 highly anticipated anime series coming this fall

Long-awaited sequels of popular anime and highly anticipated new series are coming this fall.

A lot of anime fans got their fill this summer with the sequels of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, My Hero Academia, and Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, and original anime series such as Remake our Life and The Case Study of Vanitas.

There’s more to come! The sequels of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and new anime adaptations of Chainsaw Man, Komi Can’t Communicate.

Here’s a list of upcoming anime series this fall that will air in the following weeks.

1. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc

The record-breaking box office anime and one of the best-selling manga series will air its second season, which follows the events of its recently released movie, Demon Slayer: Mugen train.

 Synopsis: A young warrior, Tanjiro Kamado, seeks the power to get rid of his sister’s demon curse. Along his journey, he meets new friends and hones his skills as a swordsman.

2. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Stone Ocean

Hirohiko Araki’s critically acclaimed manga gets another season for its anime adaptation named Stone Ocean as the sixth season of the series. It will air in December on Netflix.

Synopsis: Framed for a crime that she did not commit, Jolyne Cujoh sets course as a “Stand” user to clear her name and take back her old life. 

3. Chainsaw Man

The manga has run from having zero popularity to a smash hit and fans are anticipating this anime adaptation by MAPPA (Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan: The Final Season), which will be satisfying to watch for sure.

 

 

Synopsis: Denji’s poor life under the Yakuza changes forever when he merges with his chainsaw dog and works under the Public Safety Division.

4. Komi-san Can’t Communicate

Komi-san Can’t Communicate is a manga that fans have been requesting anime studios for a long time to adapt into a series, due to its popularity as a wholesome romantic-comedy. Now, OLM Studio (Yo-kai Watch, Restaurant to Another World 2) will animate the manga to be aired on Oct. 7.

Synopsis: Shouko Komi, a teenage girl who has a hard time communicating, meets Hitohito Tadano, who took her promise to help her make 100 friends.

5. Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Part 2

The second half of season one was delayed due to unknown reasons. It is possible it’s related to the COVID-19 pandemic that hit Japan in multiple waves. The first half of the series ended with episode 11 on March 22, 2021. This October, it will pick up with episode 12.

Synopsis: A 34-year-old shut-in awakens in another world as Rudeus Greyrat, starting life again as a baby born to two loving parents and makes opportunities to conquer his traumatic past. 

6. Blue Period

Blue Period tackles a student who struggles with impostor syndrome and feels lost in his artistic journey, which is relatable for artists suffering from their own skills.

Synopsis: Yatora Yaguchi stumbles upon a beautiful painting by his classmate and something stirs inside him, which motivates him to learn arts and how to paint.

7. Mieruko-chan

Mieruko-Chan is a unique horror-comedy manga that will be animated by Kadokawa (No Game, No Life the Movie, ERASED). The anime series is set to launch on Oct. 3, 2021.

Synopsis: Blending both comedy and horror, Mieruko-chan deals with the paranormal activity by enduring her fear in order to keep herself and her friends out of danger.

8. 86: Eighty Six Part 2

The second half of this military sci-fi anime is rebranded as season two of the series and set to air on Oct. 2. The first half of the series covers the war between two factions and will look into the mysterious people known as the “86”

Synopsis: The war between Republic of San Magnolia and Giadian Empire is claimed to be a war without casualties by using unmanned drones, until Lena discovers a secret.
