'V for Vendetta' is getting a TV series after 20 years—report
A V for Vendetta television series is reportedly in the works.
According to a report by Variety, Pete Jackson will write the adaptation for HBO while DC Studios' James Gunn and Peter Safran will serve as its executive producers along with some executives from Warner Bros. Television.
Should it push through, it will be the newest adaptation of the 1982 comic serial written by Alan Moore and illustrated by David Lloyd, and the latest DC Studios live-action series on HBO next to The Penguin, and the upcoming Lanterns.
It will come 20 years after a 2005 live-action movie adaptation by James McTeigue, starring Anarchist V (Hugo Weaving), famous for his Guy Fawkes mask, and Evey Hammond (Natalie Portman). They join forces in taking down a fascist, totalitarian government.
Warner Bros. is set to reshow the film in 2026 to mark its 20th anniversary.
