From being the heir to a luxury hotel conglomerate in the hit K-drama King the Land, 2PM's Lee Jun-ho will embark on a new role as a superhero in the upcoming Netflix series Cashero.

On its social media pages, the giant streaming app unveiled its star-studded lineup, including Kim Hye Joon (A Shop for Killers), Kim Byung Chul (Sky Castle) and Kim Hyang (Along With the Gods).

Helmed by director Lee Chang Min of Agency and Welcome to Waikiki, the series will be based on the webtoon of the same name. It follows the story of Kang Sang Woong, played by Jun-ho, an ordinary government employee "who earns the special ability to gain as much strength as the cash he holds, causing him to empty his wallet to save the world."

"The series uniquely combines heroism with a candid exploration of socio-economic challenges, engaging audiences with its inventive plot and relatable characters," Netflix said.

Meanwhile, Hye Joon will be playing the role of Kim Min Sook, Sang-woong's analytical and realistic girlfriend. She has a unique talent for numbers, helping her boyfriend with his unbelievable abilities. Above all, she is a supportive partner to Sang Woong, although she believes that the latter's work as Cashero is inefficient.

Byung Chul, on the other hand, will play the role of Byun Ho, a lawyer whose supernatural abilities activate when he drinks. He joined the character of Junho in saving the world against a mysterious organization that hunts down those with supernatural powers.

Lastly, Kim Hyang Gi will be playing Bang Eun Mi, whose supernatural powers are activated by her caloric intake. Bang Eun Mi's bold and slightly ostentatious persona makes her a trustworthy colleague for Byun Ho In and Kang Sang Woong.

Other details, such as the premiere date and the number of episodes, have not yet been disclosed.

Jun-ho became well-known in 2006 after winning a Korean talent contest, Superstar Survival. Two years later, he participated in another competition called Hot Blood Men, which gave rise to the K-pop boy band 2PM, one of the biggest names of K-pop's second generation.

In 2008, he debuted as part of 2 PM's along with Ok Taecyeon.

Prior to Cashero, he also starred in hit K-drama series such as King the Land, The Red Sleeve, and Confession, among others.

The K-pop idol-turned-actor visited the country last November 2023 for his first fan meeting tour, JUNHO THE MOMENT 2023, held at SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
