Streamer Valkyrae launches own media company
One of YouTube's most-watched female streamers, Valkyrae, launched her own media company, Hihi Studios.
“My love for animation has only grown and now excited to be able to be involved in creating entertainment across TV, film, and other mediums!” wrote Valkyrae in an Instagram post last Sept. 28.
Hihi Studios has partnered with GlobalComix, a digital comic book platform. It is co-founded by Kai Gayoso, Gabe Pepe, and Madeline McFerren.
In an interview with Variety, she said that she launched this company because she feels it is the "right time" for her to "champion my own ideas in a new medium that I have not yet explored."
"It is something I plan to be involved in for, hopefully, many years to come," she told Variety.
32-year-old Valkyrae also shared why she named the media company Hihi Studios.
“For many years I would always greet my community and streams by saying 'hi hi' and I figured this would be a fun way to have a little easter egg for my community within the company,” she said. “I wanted the name to be easy to remember, welcoming and I love the symmetry of the logo.”
Hihi Studios will be producing anime-inspired content across multiple mediums such as graphic novels, comic books, TV, and films.
Rachell Hofstetter, publicly known as Valkyrae, is a half-Filipina streamer who makes occasional Filipino-inspired content.
Back in 2020, she became the most-watched female streamer, beating Pokimane who held that title; she continues to be one of the most-watched female streamers today.
Besides being a gaming streamer, she is also a co-owner of 100 Thieves, a professional gaming organization.
