The Metropolitan Theater is offering free guided tours every month
Calling all history buffs! Free guided tours are set to take place at the Metropolitan Theater every month.
The MET announced that every third Sunday of the month, it's opening its doors for the said tours, which will give a glimpse of the main theater, as well as indoor and outdoor facilities.
The first one is scheduled for Jan. 18, but slots for this date are already filled.
Each guided tour only accepts the first 100 registrants, so make sure to follow the MET's Facebook page for future updates. However, they will accept walk-ins depending on slot availability.
Tour participants are expected to be at the venue 30 minutes ahead of schedule. The walkaround will last one to one and a half hours.
The MET, designed by Juan M. Arellano, was inaugurated in 1931 and has since been rehabilitated and restored. Notably, it reopened in December 2021, 25 years after its closure in 1996, and it has since been the venue for several events, including National Artist for Film and Broadcast Nora Aunor's necrological service.
The Art Deco-style building is also a National Historical Landmark and a National Cultural Treasure.
The MET is located along Padre Burgos Ave., Ermita, Manila.
