Is Taylor Swift joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)?

According to PEOPLE Magazine, fans are speculating that the award-winning pop icon will have a surprise cameo in the upcoming third installment of the Deadpool movie, Deadpool & Wolverine.

Swift is rumored to play Dazzler, a mutant who can convert sound vibrations into light and energy beams. Outside of superhero duties, the character works as a singer, actor, and dancer.

Dazzler briefly appeared in 2019’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix, portrayed by Halston Sage.

PEOPLE reported that in October 2023, Deadpool & Wolverine stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, as well as director Shawn Levy, joined Swift in New Jersey during the game of Kansas City Chiefs, whose tight end Travis Kelce is Swift’s boyfriend.

Later that month, Swift was reportedly spotted in Manhattan with Levy, Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively, and Jackman.

Levy has refused to comment on Swift’s supposed cameo, telling fans “to wait and see.” On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he said a Swift cameo “sounds like a great idea” though didn’t elaborate.

Taking off from the 2016 and 2018 Deadpool movies, Deadpool & Wolverine follows the Time Variance Authority, the agency monitoring time introduced in the miniseries Loki, pulling Deadpool from his quiet life and setting him on a mission alongside Wolverine.

The movie marks the return of Jackman after 2017's Logan, the final installment in the Wolverine movies.

Deadpool 3 also stars Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, and Stefan Kapičić.

Deadpool & Wolverine is the series’ first entry in the MCU. Rival studio 20th Century Fox was the original producer and distributor of the Deadpool and X-Men movies before Disney, Marvel’s parent company, purchased 20th Century Fox and the rights to the characters.

Deadpool 3 will hit theaters on July 26.
