Coco Martin's 'Sigabo' to air on TV5 this June after renewed partnership with ABS-CBN

Coco Martin's latest drama Sigabo will officially join TV5's primetime lineup this June as part of a renewed content-sharing initiative between TV5 and ABS-CBN.

In a statement, the Kapatid network announced that Martin's action-comedy drama series will begin airing on their platform on June 22 from Monday to Friday starting at 8:00 p.m.

TV5 highlighted that this collaboration expands distribution to give viewers "more choices, bringing a wider variety of dramas, public service programs, and real-life stories directly to Filipino families wherever they are."

"This initiative provides Filipinos, both Kapatid and Kapamilya, with more platforms to enjoy quality stories and experiences," said TV5 President and Chief Executive Officer, Guido Zaballero.

"As the Philippine media landscape continues to evolve, both organizations remain focused on what matters most: creating meaningful connections with audiences through stories that inform, entertain, and bring Filipinos together," TV5 stated.

Sigabo reunites Martin with his real-life partner Julia Montes after their work in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. Other stars that will appear include JC de Vera, Carmi Martin, Arci Muñoz, Tess Antonio, Edu Manzano, and more.

The series centers on a spunky man named Gabo, who after serving eight years in prison is granted parole. However, his long-awaited freedom comes at a price as he is now forced into a covert government program that recruits convicts for dangerous, high-stakes missions.

The renewed partnership comes as ABS-CBN previously said that its TV Content Supply Agreement with TV5 "may end" due to unpaid financial obligations to TV5. However, they stressed that "there is no truth to any insinuation that ABS-CBN willfully delayed payment" and that they are "doing everything we can to address these payments."

ABS-CBN and TV5 in August 2022 announced that they had signed their long-negotiated joint venture to air Kapamilya shows on the Kapatid network.

In a joint statement, the two parties said they executed an "investment agreement" allowing the Kapamilya network to acquire 6,459,393 primary common shares in TV5. This represents 34.99% of the total voting and outstanding capital stock of TV5, for an aggregate subscription price of P2.16 billion.
