It's a great day to be a Haikyu!! fan as the Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle movie is coming to the Philippines this May!

Serving as the first film in the two-part Haikyu!! Final sequel film project, The Dumpster Battle will premiere in cinemas near you on May 15, according to an announcement by Japanese animation content platform Ani-One Asia.

The film marks the fifth movie in the anime franchise and it continues from where the fourth season of the TV series left off, covering the highly-anticipated volleyball clash between the Karasuno High School Team and Nekoma’s.

In case you need a refresher, the last episode of the anime ended with the teams reminiscing on their previous games and exploring their hopes for future matches.

Following its release in Japan in February this year, The Dumpster Battle will first be shown in Hong Kong and Macau on April 11 and in Taiwan on April 12.

The film will then be showcased in other neighboring countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and India beginning in May.

Haikyu!! is based on the popular sports manga series written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate. It takes readers into the shoes of Shoyo Hinata, a boy determined to become a great volleyball player despite his small stature.

He then sparks a rivalry with fellow volleyball prodigy Tobia Kageyama, but they eventually learn to combine their skills to create an explosive new volleyball tactic and develop an unexpected but powerful setter-spiker partnership.

The series concluded in July 2020 after 45 volumes. It is considered one of the best-selling manga series of all time, having over 60 million copies in circulation by September 2023.
