K-pop superstars BTS will be taking a time off from producing music and performing for the first time since 2019.

Big Hit Music, BTS’ entertainment agency announced on Monday, Dec. 6, that the group will go on their second “extended period of rest.” This comes shortly after their “Permission to Dance On Stage” concerts in Los Angeles, USA and their appearance at the 2021 Jingle Ball Tour.

In an official statement, Big Hit said BTS will be spending the holidays with their families for the “first time since debut.” They will also prepare for their upcoming concert and album that will “mark the beginning of a new chapter.”

“This period of rest will provide the members of BTS who have tirelessly committed themselves to their activities, a chance to get re-inspired and recharge with creative energy,” Big Hit’s statement read.

The entertainment agency also requested to “show consideration” to the septet as they “enjoy ordinary and free lives” and “concentrate” on themselves.

Shortly after Big Hit’s announcement, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook also launched their personal Instagram accounts.

BTS debuted in 2013 with the single No More Dream. The septet earned mainstream breakthrough on 2015 with the track I Need U.
