Booklovers rejoice! BookSale is now online

For decades, Pinoy book lovers have gone to BookSale to hunt for the best bargain finds. The country’s biggest source of unused and pre-loved, but well-preserved books is a treasure trove of publications at budget-friendly prices.

With 82 stores established all over the country, BookSale’s signature green and white sign has been a beacon for booklovers this past 30 years. Every visit just browsing through a branch will often leave visitors with rewarding gems.

Here's some good news for those stuck at home. BookSale has made its titles available online through Shopee, so readers can add more books to their quarantine reading pile without even having to step outside.

Award-winning essayist, fictionist and poet Shakira Sison, whose family owns BookSale, confirmed the news in a Tweet, urging followers to support the bookstore and its employees.

"Yes it's true that BookSale is online," she begins. "And my dear father is asking for your support to help keep his employees afloat, most of whom have been with him for decades. They are struggling like everyone else."

With prices averaging from P185 to P300 per book, these bestsellers are a steal. Some of the books currently up for grabs include Life of Pi (softcover) by Yann Martel for just P185, Insurgent by Veronica Roth (hardcover) for P270, and a hardcover Marvel Cinematic Universe Story Book Collection (6 books in 1) for just P425.

There are currently only 134 products listed in BookSale's Shoppee account, which was created just over a month ago. Readers can probably expect more books to be added in the weeks to come as they build up their inventory. Users can browse through the online shop by categories. Sections include fiction, history and biographies, computers and technology, comic books, art and poertry, and non-fiction to name a few.

Earlier this month, the bargain bookstore also made some of its titles available for online purchase through its Facebook page, regularly posting photos of book covers with prices and which branch to find them. Making some bestselling titles available in a centralized Shopee store offers much more flexibility and ease for booklovers planning to do their online shopping.
