Epic Games will be offering Sega’s highest rated Sonic entry in 15 years on Thursday until July 1, as they celebrate the franchise’s 30th year.

“The ultimate celebration of past and future. An all-new adventure full of unique bosses, rolling 2D landscapes, and fun classic gameplay. Sonic Mania brings retro fast-paced platforming into the future through pixel perfect 2D graphics running at 60FPS.”

Sonic Mania is a side-scrolling platformer similar to the early Sonic the Hedgehog games released for the Sega Genesis that was released in 2017 for the 25th anniversary.

The story follows Sonic, Tails and Knuckles as they venture to defeat their nemesis Doctor Eggman and his robotic henchmen, the Hard-Boiled Heavies.

As this recent rendition of the Sonic games gets a modern-day graphics makeover, it does not require much from the hardware of fans and enthusiasts as it only needs a Core 2 Duo processor and at least 2 GBs of RAM.

The Epic Games Store will also be giving away free digital copies of Horizon Chase Turbo on the same days.

Horizon Chase Turbo is a racing game inspired by the great hits of the ’80s and ’90s. It recreates the classic arcade gameplay with unbound speed limits of fun. Full throttle on and enjoy!”

Horizon Chase Turbo from Aquiris Game Studio will give players shades of classic racing games like OutRun, Daytona USA, and Sega Rally Championship.

Horizon Chase Turbo offers 4K resolution graphics, amazing old-style split-screen multiplayer for up to 4 players, tons of content with 12 Cups, 48 Cities, 111 tracks, 33 unlockable cars and 12 upgrades.
