Apple Watch Series 10 gets new design with bigger display, sleep apnea monitoring
The Apple Watch Series 10 now features a refreshed design with the tech giant's largest display yet on the wearable.
Apple launched its newest smartwatch at its "It's Glowtime" event on Sept. 9, (Sept. 10 Philippine Time), wherein it also launched the new iPhone 16 line and the AirPods fourth-generation.
The Series 10 gets bigger screens than its predecessors as it now comes in 44mm and 48mm sizes. The Series 9 came in 41mm and 45mm sizes.
Another upgrade is the wide-angle OLED screen, which lets users catch an easier glimpse of what's on the wearable's display at a glance.
Despite having a slimmer design, Apple said that this new smartwatch's speaker is more powerful as it can now play media like music without the need to connect to another device like the AirPods.
The tech giant also touts that the watch will be its "fastest charging yet" as it features a larger back for a more efficient charging coil. In its presentation, Apple said the device can charge up to 80% in just 30 minutes. Overall, the watch has an estimated 18-hour long battery life.
Powering the smartwatch is the new S10 chip for enabling features like Crash Detection, on-device Siri, improved phone calls, translation, and other features like the double tap gesture.
Sleep buddy
With its slimmer and lighter frame, Apple said the new Watch Series 10 is more comfortable to wear during sleep.
Building on its health features such as heart monitoring, respiratory rate, and wrist temperature checking, the tech giant added sleep apnea detection to its latest smartwatch.
The Series 10 can now detect sleep apnea using the accelerometer when the user wears the watch while they sleep. Interruptions in respiratory patterns will be tracked under the Breathing Disturbances metric. Data will be available through the Health app.
Sleep Apnea is described by the Mayo Clinic as a sleep disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts.
The aluminum finish Apple Watch Series 10, coming in Jet Black, Silver, and Rose Gold, is available for P26,490, while the titanium finish, in either Gold, Natural, or Slate, is priced at P46,990.
New Apple Watch Ultra 2 finish
While the tech giant didn't introduce a new Apple Watch Ultra, it unveiled a new Satin Black finish for the sports smartwatch and a matching black Milanese loop band to match the sleek colorway.
This version of the Watch Ultra 2 is available for P60,990.
