'Squid Game 3' is coming to Netflix this June
Are you ready to take on the final challenge?
The premiere date for Korean drama Squid Game Season 3 has been announced.
According to Netflix, the third and final season of Squid Game will "pick up after the devastating twist of the Season 2 finale" on June 27.
In a previous letter, series director, writer, and executive producer Hwang Dong-hyuk expressed his excitement for the third season to fans.
“I am thrilled to see the seed that was planted in creating a new Squid Game grow and bear fruit through the end of this story,” Hwang wrote. “We’ll do our best to make sure we bring you yet another thrill ride.”
Earlier this month, Netflix teased fans with a 16-second clip of what they could expect in the upcoming continuation.
The video starts with the all-too-familiar animatronic doll named Young-hee, who was prominently used to eliminate players during the "Red Light, Green Light" game by tracking their movements. However, it turns out that she has a male counterpart named Chul-su, who sports a bowl cut, a cap, and a polo shirt.
Squid Game follows the story of 456 individuals buried in financial debt, playing a series of thrilling, deadly games. Only one winner would bring home the jackpot prize of 45.6 billion Korean won (P2 billion).
The series became Netflix's most-watched series and the most-watched show in 94 countries, getting over 142 million member households and 1.65 billion viewing hours in its first four weeks of release.
