Published Mar 02, 2021 12:31 am

A brand new month is here, which means new free games are up for grabs for PlayStation Plus members.

According to the official PlayStation blog, there are three games available for PS4 gamers, and one PS5 exclusive, available for download from March 2 to April 5, 2021.

Gamers will be able to relive the nostalgia of one of PlayStation’s most iconic settings reimagined for PS4 in Final Fantasy VII Remake and experience a truly unique puzzle experience in Maquette for PS5 this month. The selection of free PS Plus games also includes the intense, sci-fi survival action of Remnant: From the Ashes and PS VR shooter Farpoint.

Here's a closer look at the exciting titles you can add to your gaming library.

Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS4)

Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Aerith and Red XIII are back in Square Enix’s modern reimagining of its iconic 1997 RPG.

This sparkly new remake features the same unforgettable characters from the original game rendered in 3D graphics with a mind-blowing story and epic battles along with sidequests and minigames, including a thrilling motorcycle chase sequence, squirmishes in the Corneo Colloseum battle arena, a dance-off, squats challenges, and more.

Return to the city of Midgar as Cloud Strife, former member of Shinra’s elite SOLDIER unit now turned mercenary, who lends his aid to the resistance group Avalanche. The story of this first, standalone game in the Final Fantasy VII Remake project covers up to the party’s escape from Midgar, and goes deeper into the events occurring in Midgar than the classic original.

It was recently announced that an enhanced and expanded PS5 version of the game called Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be released in June. Take note that the PS4 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake available to PlayStation Plus members is not eligible for the PS5 digital version upgrade.

Remnant: From the Ashes (PS4)

Get ready to fight the root of all evil in the third-person survival action shooter Remnant: From the Ashes.

This action-packed game lets you play as one of the last remnants of humanity attempting to retake a world overrun by monstrous, interdimensional invaders.

Venture into dynamically-generated worlds alone or with up to two other survivors, scavenging for supplies and modding your equipment to strengthen your chances of survival when tackling over 100 deadly varieties of enemy and battling epic bosses.

Farpoint (PS VR)

Master an arsenal of weapons to keep yourself alive on a hostile alien world in the free-roaming, first-person PS VR shooter Farpoint.

The game puts you on a mission to pick up scientists studying an anomaly near Jupiter, when a sudden rupture nearby sends you and their station crashing onto an unknown alien world. Separated from your colleagues, you must use holographic logs scattered throughout the landscape to reunite with the scientists and escape the planet.

Optimised for the PlayStation VR Aim controller and fully playable with a DualShock wireless controller, this game lets you strike out towards your crashed space station solo or with a friend in online co-op. Trade alien threats for testing each other’s skills in a variety of Versus game modes.

Maquette (PS5)

Maquette is a first-person recursive puzzle game that takes you into a world where every building, plant, and object are simultaneously tiny and staggeringly huge.

Making its PlayStation 5 debut as part of this month’s PlayStation Plus lineup, this intriguing first-person puzzler is designed around a Escher-esque recursive simulation.

Head to the center of the world and you'll feel like a giant, towering over buildings and walls. But venture further out, and start to feel small as things get larger and larger—to the point where cracks in the ground become chasms.

In Maquette, you will explore the scales of everyday problems in a modern-day love story. Solutions to puzzles require you to manipulate the landscape of a diorama, and will see those changes mirrored in the life-sized version that surrounds you.

All the games will be available for download until early April. Additionally, Destruction AllStars is still available on PlayStation Plus and will leave the service on April 5, 2021.
