History doesn’t have to be read—it can be ridden. For those of you who know more about Jose Rizal in a more hands-on approach, this heritage bike tour invites cyclists to explore key historical sites tied to the national hero.

Cultural organization Renacimiento Manila announced that they will be holding their last tour of the year by visiting locations related to Rizal's life and heroism in Manila, including sites mentioned in his novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo.

Additionally, the tour will also take participants into the "exact site of his martyrdom" as well as places where he lived and studied as a young boy. As a bonus, you can also go up close to his monument at Luneta.

The areas that will be covered include Intramuros, San Nicolas, Binondo, Pasig River Esplanade, Paco Park, Luneta, and Fort Santiago.

The tour will take place on Dec. 30, coinciding with Rizal Day. It will last from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Interested participants are advised to be mindful of their personal belongings at all times and to avoid bringing bulky items for their own comfort.

"The heritage walk lasts over three hours, and the bike tours cover large areas—participants should be physically prepared. Those with heart conditions or serious health issues are strongly discouraged from joining the bike tours and long walks," they said.

"Make sure to eat properly beforehand and dress comfortably. Bike tour participants must bring their own bike and wear proper protective gear," they added.

In case of bad weather, the tour will continue in light rain, but may be suspended during stormy conditions.

The fee to join the bike tour is P400. You can register through this link.

Walk-in participants are meanwhile required to settle the registration fee via GCash or through the bank account provided upon signing up. After completing this registration form, you must send a screenshot of your payment receipt or accomplished registration form to Renacimiento Manila’s social media messengers as part of the confirmation process of your registration.
