SB19 vies for Grammys 2024 nomination with 'Gento'

SB19 continues to make waves in the international scene.

Just recently, music label Sony Music Philippines announced on its social media pages that the P-pop sensation's hit track Gento is now an approved entry to the US Recording Academy’s 66th Grammy Awards in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category.

"A'TIN! Mag ingay! SB19's Gento is an approved entry to the GRAMMYs," the caption read.

Since this is not yet an official Grammy nomination, the record label asked SB19 fans to keep sharing the poster as a marketing campaign so that it could reach the voting panel of the Recording Academy, who has until Oct. 20 to make their picks.

The official list of nominees will be announced on Nov. 10, ahead of the awards night on Feb. 4.

SB19 released Gento in May as part of their Extended Play Pagtatag!. It became a massive hit and went viral on TikTok as a dance trend, which has been performed by various artists including K-Pop stars like Super Junior’s Eunhyuk, 2NE1’s Minzy, and the members of CRAVITY, among others.

The group, consisting of members Pablo, Stell, Ken, Justin, and Josh, officially launched its own company 1Z Entertainment earlier this month.

“Pinapride namin tong 1Z Entertainment. Isa ito sa biggest achievements namin in life," Pablo said during a live session on the group's official YouTube channel.

SB19 is also commemorating its fifth anniversary in the music industry with a series of activities this month, including a podcast called Atin Atin Lang that will drop a new episode every Monday in October. A new installment of their web series Show Break 5 will also be out on Oct. 19.

ONE ZONE is a month-long celebration of SB19's half-a-decade journey in the music scene.

The P-pop group will hold ONE ZONE—a month-long celebration of its five-year journey in the music industry—from Oct. 23 to 27 before its Half a Decade Celebration fan meeting at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on Oct. 28. Ticket prices range from P1,000 to P7,000.
