Discovery+ to cease operations in the Philippines in April 2023
Discovery+ will permanently stop its operations in the Philippines starting April 27.
Warner Bros. Discovery announced the news in an official statement, adding that the decision came after “a review of its content and streaming proposition” in the country.
“We thank you for your support and for being a member of the Discovery+ family,” the company said.
Discovery+ noted that the closure of the streaming platform in the PH “will not affect the service in other markets and is not a reflection of Warner Bros. Discovery's interest in ensuring meaningful presence in the Philippines.”
The subscription streaming service went live in the country in 2021, offering over 20,000 episodes from Discovery's wide selection of networks as well as over 100 new and exclusive Discovery+ originals from franchises and personalities.
Popular titles on the streaming platform are 90 Day Fiance and Drag Race Philippines, among others.
The company said that audiences can still watch their hit offerings on linear channels like Discovery, TLC, Asian Food Network, and HGTV.
