Tamagotchi is making a smartwatch comeback for its 25th anniversary
So you won’t starve your virtual pets ever again.
Remember when Tamagotchi pets had to be strapped to your waist so you won’t forget them? Well, Japan’s Bandai Namco is ushering in a new era of responsible pet caring with Tamagotchi Smart.
Released in 1996, the nostalgic Tamagotchi has undoubtedly stood the test of time with its many reiterations: from tiny plain white handheld console, phone apps, to the now still-egg-shaped Smartwatch.
The new way to care for Tamagotchi is set to come in two colorways: Coral Pink and Mint Blue. Aside from the wrist packaging, the new console will also have hold touch and voice controls for when you want to wake up your pet or simply stroke its head. It also promises to be the "smartest" Tamagotchi game to date, as players can swap and have playdates with fellow players.
The Tamagotchi Smart is set to debut in Japan in November for $60, or around P2,900. There's no word just yet on a global release.
