‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ manga resumes in August after hiatus
Fans will finally reunite with Yuji Itadori this August 2 as the manga returns for Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump’s 35th issue.
The manga underwent a hiatus on the 29th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump on June 21 after the creator, Gege Akutami’s health was in poor condition. During that time, Akutami assured fans that he will return despite the indefinite hiatus of the manga. Nevertheless, the beloved mangaka seems to have recovered successfully since the manga’s upcoming latest update, chapter 153 will be arriving next month.

Jujutsu Kaisen follows the story of a high school student named Yuji Itadori who consumes a sealed cursed object and finds himself in a mysterious school for Jujutsu Sorcerers, who exist to protect the world from demons who feed on unsuspecting humans.
Jujutsu Kaisen was first published back in March 2018 and has been steadily rising in popularity especially when the manga was picked up for an anime adaptation. The anime debuted last year in October, garnering attention with its amazing art style, lovable characters, and interesting storyline. Due to the popularity of the animation, the manga’s sales have also reached 50 million copies sold in circulation.
Besides the upcoming season 2 of the anime, Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School, the prequel manga of Jujutsu Kaisen, will have a movie adaptation titled, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 the Movie. It is slated to be in theaters later this year.
The two latest chapters of the manga are available for free on Viz’s official website.
For Filipino viewers, Jujutsu Kaisen’s anime adaptation is available on Netflix and for free on WeTV and iQIYI apps.
