Angelica Ross says Emma Roberts has apologized for alleged transphobic comment on 'AHS: 1984' set
Angelica Ross claimed that her former co-star, Emma Roberts, has expressed remorse after she allegedly made a transphobic remark against her during the production of American Horror Story: 1984.
The issue started when Ross, who is transgender, went live on Instagram and shared that she had a confrontation with Roberts after the actress allegedly misgendered her.
"I’m standing in front of Emma, talking to her like this, and she’s in front of me, her back against the mirror. She goes, 'John, Angelica’s being mean,'" Ross claimed, referring to American Horror Story director John J. Gray.
After Gray said "Okay, ladies, you know, that’s enough. Let’s get back to work," Roberts then allegedly responded with a transphobic remark.
"She then looks at me and she goes, 'Don't you mean lady?' and she turns around," Ross recounted.
Despite feeling enraged over the incident, the actress chose to keep quiet about it at the time as she was afraid of the repercussions if she reported it.
"My blood is boiling because I’m like, if I say something, it’s gonna be me that’s the problem. I know this because there was someone who spoke up about what she was doing, and they got repercussions from it," Ross said, adding that she no longer spoke to Roberts after the alleged on-set encounter.
Ross, however, emphasized in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that she doesn't want any of her followers to throw violent words towards Roberts when holding her accountable.
"Let me make something absolutely clear. I appreciate the support, but please do not joke about violence towards Emma. Joke about her being held accountable. Now that's funny," she wrote.
In an update, Ross revealed that Roberts has apologized for the behavior she displayed towards her, adding that she hopes the actress can show support for the community in the future.
"Thank you Emma Roberts for calling and apologizing, recognizing your behavior was not that of an ally. I will leave the line open to follow up on your desire to do better and support social justice causes with your platform," Ross wrote.

Roberts is currently starring in the twelfth season of American Horror Story, subtitled Delicate, along with Kim Kardashian and Cara Delevingne. The season premiered on Sept. 20 and will be split into two parts.
