UPDATED: Telecommunications and digital services provider PLDT has announced that emergency maintenance activities will be conducted on one of its international cable systems starting this Saturday.

In an advisory, the company said that emergency maintenance activities will be conducted on the Asian American Gateway from 9:00 a.m. on September 26 until 5:00 a.m. on September 30.

Meanwhile, PLDT has assured the public that measures have been put in place in order to minimize the impact of the maintenance activity on its subscribers.

“Measures have been put in place to minimize this activity's impact and to ensure that services remain available to PLDT and Smart subscribers,” it wrote. “We shall provide regular updates as the operation progresses, we thank you for your understanding.”

In a separate advisory, the telco giant vowed of “continued internet connectivity all throughout" the scheduled maintenance activities.

“We have identified alternative cable systems to keep our connectivity resilient. We have also adopted measures such as traffic rerouting and local caching, ensuring that most frequent downloaded content are located in the Philippines,” it said. “Students can still do their online studies and exams, and users in homes and businesses can go about their normal internet-based activities during this time.”
