The world of 'Blue Birthday': A K-drama filled that deals with mental health and suicide prevention

Blue Birthday is a Korean fantasy romance drama that deals with suicide, suicide prevention, and mental health issues.

Red Velvet’s Yeri and PENTAGON’s Hongseok’s acting are also both realistically natural, capturing the attention of the viewers with this suspense and melancholic-filled drama.

Unlike most K-dramas, Blue Birthday dwells on the touchy issues of mental health and suicide, and the question of how much a friend can do to help save the life of another friend.

Oh Ha Rin, played by Yeri, has been grieving the sudden death of Ji Seo Jun, played by Hongseok, her first love and her best friend. Countless rumors, however, indicate that Ji Seo Jun killed himself.

Given a chance to go back eight times to the past, Oh Ha Rin tries to uncover the truth about Ji Seo Jun’s death. Although it is being pointed out that Ji Seo Jun committed suicide, Oh Ha Rin discovers that there is more to the story than what the public immediately believed.

Oh Ha Rin eventually also became aware of her mental health and the people surrounding her. After going back to the past, she eventualy became more thoughtful about the repercussions of her past actions, and more cautious of her words and of other people’s feelings and thoughts.

She then became aware that Ji Seo Jun must’ve been keeping things on his own - leading to his sudden death.

Blue Birthday is an ongoing K-drama with only two episodes left to complete the series as of this writing.
