There's something sweet coming to your television screens soon: Disney's Beauty and the Beast live-action prequel series!

Four years after the live-action movie was released, Disney announced that Luke Evans and Josh Gad will be returning as Gaston and LeFou, respectively, for the new series under the same title. This time, Beauty and the Beast will focus on the two friends in their little town where it all started.

"Set in the iconic kingdom of Beauty and the Beast years before the Beast and Belle's epic romance, the series will follow Gaston and LeFou as they set off with LeFou's step-sister, Tilly, after a surprising revelation from her past comes to light, sending the unlikely trio off on an unexpected journey filled with romance, comedy, and adventure. While the mysteries of the past are uncovered and the dangers of the present grow, old friends and new enemies reveal that this familiar kingdom harbors many secrets," Disney said in a press release.

Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer of Disney Branded Television, said that this series will answer all our burning questions about the characters, like how Gaston and LeFou became friends, how the prince turned into a beast, and more. The limited musical series will also introduce a new character named Tilly (Briana Middleton), Louie's step sister.

"This prequel is both a love letter to what’s come before and its own spectacular adventure,” Jonnie Davis, president of ABC Signature added.

The limited musical series will be aired on Disney+, with Gad as the writer and executive producer, along with Once Upon A Time's Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz as co-showrunners.

There's no release date yet, but production is set to start in spring 2022.
