Musical theater buffs: Here's your chance to sing in an ensemble for one day this August
Bowing to popular demand, One-Day Theater Ensemble is holding another session with musical director Rony Fortich on Aug. 9 at the BGC Arts Center.
For many large-scale musical theater productions, such as Hamilton and The Lion King, the ensemble is equally as important as the leads. This group of performers fills the background as back-up singers, dancers, and actors, singing and dancing in sync to add color to the story.
Award-winning musical director Rony Fortich will be mounting a repeat of the highly popular One-Day Theater Ensemble to allow musical theater aspirants to experience performing in an ensemble.
Over the last 25 years, Fortich has worked on numerous musical performances both in the Philippines and abroad. From the grand opening of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort in 2005 until 2017, he served as its music director. In 2013, he earned the Walt Disney Legacy Award for his work. In the Philippines, he won the Gawad Buhay award for outstanding musical direction for the Manila production of the Off-Broadway musical The Last Five Years starring Gab Pangilinan and Myke Salomon.
Fortich's One-Day Theater Ensemble workshop will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 9, at the Maybank Performing Arts Theater, BGC Arts Center.
Participants can expect to learn a song and analyze it so they can perform it all in one afternoon. It is open to ages 12 and up.
The program fee is P1,000 per person; P800 per head for former and current BGC Arts Center Musical Theater Workshop students, senior citizens, PWDs, BGCitizens who work or study in BGC, and groups of three. Those seeking discounts must provide their respective IDs.
