Anya Taylor-Joy joins cast of 'The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum'
Anya Taylor-Joy is taking her talents to Middle-earth!
The award-winning actress is the latest cast member to join the cast of The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum.
As shown in a reveal trailer on Instagram, Taylor-Joy will play a new elf character named Seren, described by Variety as “a trusted and lethal agent of King Thranduil.”
This is Taylor-Joy's third role in a major Warner Bros. franchise, following her titular in Furiosa and Alia Atreides in Dune: Part Two.
In April, returning cast members in Gollum were announced: Andy Serkis as the titular Gollum/Smeagol, Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins, Lee Pace as Thranduil. Other cast members include Kate Winslet as Marigold, Leo Woodall as Halvard, and Jamie Dornan as Strider/Aragorn.
The Hunt for Gollum is the latest installment in The Lord of the Rings movies, which revolves around the search for Gollum, the corrupted Hobbit, years before the franchise's first entry, The Fellowship of the Ring.
Directed by Andy Serkis and written by original screenwriters Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens alongside new team members, the film will be released worldwide on Dec. 17, 2027.
LOTR consists of epic fantasy adventure movies based on the best-selling series of novels written by J.R.R. Tolkien. They are set in a fictional land filled with men, dwarves, elves, and hobbits.
The original film trilogy earned nearly $3 billion (P172 billion) at the box office and won a total of 17 Academy Awards.
