Move over, boys. Wonder Woman is finally getting her own video game.

Wonder Woman’s first ever stand-alone video game is in the works from Monolith Productions, DC, and Warner Bros. Games.

The title was unveiled at The Game Awards on Thursday night, with a brief 30-second teaser trailer serving as an official game announcement.

The trailer shows the heroine floating with her glowing gold whip. Fans don’t get a lot of insight into the story, other than a voiceover speaking to Wonder Woman: “My daughter, a new threat comes to our shores, and I must call you home,” the voice says. “Restore what has been broken.”

According to a release, Wonder Woman is a new single-player, third-person, open-world action adventure featuring an original story set in the DC Universe.

The story will follow Diana of Themyscira as she seeks to “unite her Amazon family and the humans from the modern world.”

The upcoming video game comes from Monolith Productions, the studio responsible for 2014’s Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor and its 2017 sequel Shadow of War.

Before the Middle-earth series, Monolith was best known for the F.E.A.R and Condemned games.

According to a report from Polygon, like the Middle-earth games, the Wonder Woman game will use a set of mechanics called the Nemesis System.

The system lets players build connections with friends and foes alike in the game, as each are unique, procedurally generated individuals. In the character-driven story arc, a player's interactions with NPCs are influential on the game narrative itself.

No release window or actual gameplay footage has been revealed, and the game is still in its early development stages based on the trailer.

Wonder Woman has had a resurgence lately due to Gal Gadot’s portrayals of her in the 2017 movie Wonder Woman, the 2020 sequel Wonder Woman 1984, and other movies in the DC Comics universe.

It’s still unclear if Gal Gadot will be voicing the superhero in the upcoming video game or if the plot of the game will tie in with the DC movies, or take a different direction.

DC Comics is currently celebrating Wonder Woman’s 80th anniversary this year, with a vibrant collection of commemorative releases, free editions and new series launches all starring DC’s Champion of Truth and Warrior for Peace.

While Wonder Woman has appeared in various games before such as DC Universe Online and has had a substantial role in the Injustice series from NetherRealm Studios, this marks her first stand-alone video game title.

This year, Warner Bros. has announced other new video games using its characters, including the new free-to-play Super Smash Bros.-like fighter called MultiVersus that also includes Wonder Woman, along with Batman, Superman, Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry, Arya Stark from Game of Thrones, and other characters from the Warner Bros. properties.

Wonder Woman the game will be Monolith Productions' first game since the release of Middle-earth: Shadow of War in 2017 and will be published by Warner Bros.
