Philippine production of 'Into the Woods' announces show dates
The producer of the Philippine adaptation of Into the Woods has announced the dates of its shows.
Produced by Theater Group Asia (TGA), the Stephen Sondheim musical will be held from Aug. 7 to 24 at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Makati.
The group said there will be a limited engagement run of 18 performances.
The musical will star Lea Salonga, who will portray The Witch—a role she had played in her 20s. It would be Salonga's first appearance on the Philippine musical stage in years.
Arielle Jacobs, known for her roles in In the Heights and Aladdin, is joining the musical as Cinderella.
Other cast members are yet to be announced.
Into the Woods, first shown in 1986, intertwines the plots of several fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm, including Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, and Cinderella.
The musical is tied together by a story about a childless baker and his wife, their interaction with a witch who had cursed them, and their encounters with the fairy tale characters.
The musical was adapted into a Disney movie in 2014.
