Did Bandai Namco just hint at a brand new Tekken game?

Just after the Tekken 7 Grand Finals in EVO 2022, Bandai Namco unveiled their trailer for a free battle update coming this August 17, but at the end of the preview was a surprise snippet from Tekken’s 1994 cutscene of Kazuya Mishima dropping Heihachi Mishima from the edge of a cliff.

The video zooms in on Kazuya’s face, before a glitch forms to reveal the latest look of the iconic character’s design. With a red glint to Kazuya’s eye, the line “Get ready” pops up on the side before the teaser comes to a full end.

Besides the brief teaser, series director and producer Katsuhiro Harada did not expound on Bandai Namco’s future plans for Tekken and no further information was given to confirm whether a Tekken 8 or a remake will soon be released.

Tekken 7 is a fighting game developed by Bandai Namco Studios that initially had its arcade launch in 2015 before being available for consoles and PC in 2017. The 3-D fighting video game franchise first began as an exclusive on the PlayStation in 1994.

While the new game has yet to be confirmed, Tekken fans have a new show to look forward to this month. The Tekken anime adaptation Tekken: Bloodline is coming to Netflix on August 18, 2022.

The anime series will be centering on Jin Kazama, one of the main characters of the games, as he struggles to seek revenge on a monstrous evil who has destroyed everything important to him.
