Families across the globe ushered in the 2023 Chinese New Year, particularly the Year of the Rabbit, on Sunday, Jan. 22.
Celebrations are about getting rid of the bad from the previous year, and welcoming the good in the year ahead through parades, fireworks, as well as certain types of food and objects.
Here's how Filipino showbiz personalities celebrated the holiday, from spectacle to simplicity.
Kim Chiu
Kim Chiu rang in the Year of the Rabbit with her family, friends, and boyfriend Xian Lim through traditional practices.
Chiu's Instagram Reel showed red attires, golden objects, fireworks, dancing dragons, among others.
“May this New Year bring many opportunities your way, to explore every joy of life and may your resolutions for the days ahead stay firm, turning all your dreams into reality and all your efforts into great achievements," she captioned her post.
Liz Uy
Liz Uy opted for an intimate celebration at home with her family and kids.
Uy on Instagram photos of them in red, as well as their unassuming table setup that's meant to attract good fortune.
"Gong Xi Fa Cai," she said.
Richard Juan
Richard Juan simply took to Instagram Story to mark the occasion.
The television host shared a clip of a fireworks display, as well as photos of his two dogs.
Kryz Uy
Kryz Uy also posted an Instagram Story of their table setup, which had an ang pao and golden chocolate coins for fortune, fruit basket for nourishment, and a plate of ginger for good health.
"Happy Chinese New Year!" she wrote.
Marvin Agustin
Actor and restaurateur Marvin Agustin, in his element, posted a video of him preparing cochinillo.
Agustin noted how he was only preparing the suckling pig at home, but decided to do it at a mall in Metro Manila.
"Happy Sunday and Chinese New Year Everyone!" he said.
