‘Rak of Aegis’ musical to finally stream online
We can finally catch up with our favorite neighbors from Barangay Venezia as the hit musical will finally stream online.
In an announcement by Theaterfansmanila.com, Rak of Aegis, with its production shot live from a previous performance, will be streaming at ticket2me.net for two weekends—July 31 to Aug. 1; and Aug. 7 to Aug. 8. The pay-per-view stream is Philippine Educational Theater Association’s (PETA’s) banner project for its #TakePETAbeyondCOVID fundraising campaign.
According to the announcement, the streaming cast and further ticket details will be announced soon on PETA’s Facebook page.
The smash hit musical, which theatergoers have deeply embraced through its seven-season run from 2014 to 2019, features headlining songs from multi-platinum OPM band Aegis like Basang-basa sa Ulan, Halik, Luha and Sayang na Sayang.
Created by the company’s artistic director Maribel Legarda and written by Palanca winner Liza Magtoto, Rak of Aegis tells the story of Aileen, a young girl who dreams of becoming a YouTube sensation.
Aileen’s neighbors (and love interests) at their flooded Barangay Venezia strings the story of how she tries to fulfill her dream while she supports her family and helps the community battle health hazards and poor livelihood conditions.
Some of the principal cast members who have graced Rak’s stage include Aicelle Santos and Kim Molina (Aileen), Jerald Napoles and Pepe Herrera (Tolits), Isay Alvarez and Bayang Barrios (Mary Jane), Robert Seña and Noel Cabangon (Kiel), Poppert Bernadas and Myke Salomon (Kenny), Kakai Bautista (Mercy), and Jon Santos and Randy Santiago (Fernan).
