Hey, Nintendo Switch players! Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ major 2.0 update is now live

It seems like Nintendo is just as excited as players are about Animal Crossing: New Horizons' major update.

Instead of releasing the 2.0 update on Nov. 5, players can start diving into all the new features a day early.

To update the game, go into your Nintendo Switch's home menu by pressing the plus button while Animal Crossing: New Horizons is highlighted. Then simply select Software Update.

The free 2.0 update, announced in October, will bring in big changes to the game, including boat tours to mystery islands, the ability to cook food with grown ingredients, a "pro" camera mode, new house exterior designs, new hairstyles, and more.

And most notably, Brewster's coffee shop will now open on your island. At the museum café, you'll be able to have coffee with your beloved residents, friends, and Amiibo visitors.

On the other hand, the Happy Home Paradise downloadable content is still not available yet but you can pre-order it from the eShop for $24.99. This DLC lets you design and build dream vacation homes for vacationing villagers.

Those who have upgraded their Nintendo Switch Online (NSO) Membership to the Expansion Pack have access to the DLC at no additional cost.

Is the Expansion Pack membership worth it?

Nintendo fans, however, have been critical of the expansion pack membership for its poor value. A regular 12-month NSO subscription for individuals costs $19.99 while the expansion pack comes at a pricier $49.99.

So far, there are only a few extra features that players get with the more expensive subscription, which includes the free Animal Crossing: New Horizons Happy Home Paradise DLC, and Nintendo 64 and SEGA Genesis emulators.
