It’s shaping up to be an exciting year for Sony Pictures

WATCH: ‘Uncharted’ movie’s cargo plane fight scene looks straight out of the video game

To kick things off for 2022, Sony unveiled the full two and a half minute clip from the upcoming Uncharted movie starring Tom Holland during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2022 on Wednesday (Jan. 5).

The Uncharted movie is based on the hit action-adventure PlayStation video game franchise by Naughty Dog, and Sony Pictures’ first major project adapting games to the world of film and television

The extended Uncharted clip from the cargo plane scene that has been featured prominently in the trailers, looks directly inspired by the action cutscenes and quick time events in the game franchise.

Despite the Uncharted movie being a prequel following a young Nathan Drake, the cargo plane scene is reminiscent of a mission from 2011’s Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, the third game in the mainline series.

Gaming media outlets have previously shown side-by-side comparisons of the game versus the movie using clips featured in earlier trailers.

In the exclusive new movie clip, we see Holland’s Nathan Drake and Mark Whalberg’s Sully at the back of a cargo hauler captured by Tati Gabrielle’s Braddock. A fight scene ensues with an open cargo door while everyone is thousands of feet in the air.

Unlike the video game where the plane flies over the desert, the cargo plane is flying over the ocean with islands below.

In the movie, Holland plays the street-smart thief Nathan Drake in his younger years who is recruited by seasoned treasure hunter Victor "Sully" Sullivan to recover a fortune lost by Ferdinand Magellan 500 years ago.

"What starts as a heist job for the duo becomes a globe-trotting, white-knuckle race to reach the prize before the ruthless Moncada, who believes he and his family are the rightful heirs. If Nate and Sully can decipher the clues and solve one of the world’s oldest mysteries, they stand to find $5 billion in treasure and perhaps even Nate’s long-lost brother… but only if they can learn to work together," according to the official synopsis.

The film’s villain Moncada will be played by Antonio Banderas, while Sophia Ali plays fellow treasure hunter and Drake’s ally, Chloe Frazer.

Uncharted is set to debut in movie theaters on Feb. 18, 2022.
