'Tangled' live-action film casts its Rapunzel and Flynn Rider
The upcoming live-action adaptation of Tangled has found its Rapunzel and and Flynn Rider.
According to Variety, Teagan Croft will be portraying Rapunzel while Milo Manheim is set to bring Flynn Rider's character to life.
Croft is best known for playing as Rachel Roth or Raven in the DC superhero series Titans, which aired from 2018 to 2023. Her other film credits include the title character in the 2016 science fiction film The Osiris Child, as well as the Netflix drama series True Spirit, which is based on the memoir of sailor Jessica Watson.
On the other hand, Manheim rose to fame for his starring role in the Disney television film franchise Zombies. He has also portrayed Joseph in the 2023 Christmas musical film Journey to Bethlehem.
Aside from films, Manheim has participated in reality TV shows, appearing in Dancing with the Stars, Hell's Kitchen, and Celebrity Family Feud.
The live-action adaptation of Tangled will be helmed by Michael Gracey, who is known for directing The Greatest Showman. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson of Thor: Love and Thunder is in charge of the screenplay, while Kristin Burr of Cruella will serve as producer.
The project was previously put on hold in April after the live-action remake of Snow White performed poorly at the box office.
Tangled first premiered in 2010 and tells the story of Rapunzel, a spirited young woman with magical, long blonde hair who has been locked away in a tower her entire life. Longing to explore the world beyond her confines, she crosses paths with charming thief Flynn Rider, and together they embark on an adventure filled with self-discovery, danger, and romance.
Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi lent their voices as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, respectively.
The film was hailed as the eighth-highest-grossing film of 2010 after it earned $592 million, or more than P34 billion, in worldwide box office revenue.
It also bagged numerous nominations for several awards, including Best Original Song at the 83rd Academy Awards.
