Here’s another Disney film to add to your watchlist!

Eight years after the release of its first film, Zootopia will finally have its sequel slated to be released in November 2025, Disney’s CEO Bob Iger announced on Thursday, Feb. 8 (Philippine time).

During the Q1 2024 earnings call, Iger also said that Toy Story 5 and Frozen 3 will be released in 2026.

A Zootopia sequel was first reported to be in the works in February 2023 but details such as its plot and cast, have yet to be unveiled.

The first film was a global hit following its release in 2016, grossing over $1 billion (over P55 billion), as per Deadline, and bagging the Best Animated Film award at the 2017 Academy Awards.

The Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman-starred animation also spawned a series of shorts in 2022 dubbed Zootopia+ on Disney Plus which starred secondary characters from the original film.

Directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore, Zootopia tells the story of Judy Hopps, a young bunny who was the first to join the police force. Determined to prove herself as a rookie cop, she gets herself on a mission to solve missing mammal cases alongside a sly fox named Nick Wilde.

It starred Shakira, J.K. Simmons, Rich Moore, Idris Elba, Octavia Spencer, and Alan Tudyk.
